Carly Cohen is an associate in our Litigation Group with a broad corporate and commercial litigation practice, having experience with franchise disputes, securities litigation, intellectual property, class action defence and estate matters. Prior to joining Cassels Brock as an associate in 2013, Carly was both a summer and articling student at the firm. 

Carly’s practice regularly involves:

  • Acting for franchisors in franchise disputes, including class actions, rescission and good faith claims brought under theArthur Wishart Act and the enforcement of post-termination restrictive covenants; and
  • Acting for shareholders, directors, officers and other stakeholders in corporate and securities litigation disputes including oppression remedy and derivative action claims.

Carly has appeared before a number of courts and has experience with private arbitration and mediation proceedings.  

Carly has been an active volunteer with Pro Bono Law Ontario (PBLO) since 2009.  Carly currently serves as duty counsel to self-represented parties appearing at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Carly attended Western University where she was the inaugural graduate of the combined Law and Media, Information and Technoculture program. Carly studied in the intellectual property area of concentration and was the recipient of the Bereskin & Parr Award in Industrial and Intellectual Property. Carly was also a Dean's Honour List student at the Faculty of Law, achieving a cumulative average in the top 10% of her class. Carly spent a semester studying at ESADE Ramon Llull University, Faculty of Law in Barcelona, Spain.
